Sonia Renteria - Fourth Grade

My name is Sonia Renteria, I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico. My family and I moved to the United States when I was just five years old. I lived in Garden Grove, California until I graduated from Santiago High School in 2002. I then enrolled at Santa Ana Community College where I began to take education classes. After that, I transferred to California State University Fullerton, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Arts with an emphasis on education. In 2010 I completed the Elementary and Bilingual Credential Program at CSUF, and received my teaching credential.

Shortly after finishing up grad school, I moved to Arizona to be closer to my family and began working with English Language Learners in the Queen Creek Unified School District. I am now teaching 4th grade at Cambridge Academy and am completely enjoying it. I love watching students learn new things and work to reach their full potential. I always knew I wanted to teach, and I enjoy it every day.
